A Better Way to Carry Extra Rifle Ammo While Hunting
Most of the time, a loaded magazine is more than enough. But if I'm spending the day in a tree stand or walking trails miles from the truck, I'm bringing a few extra rounds just in case.
The problem is that carrying spare rifle rounds has never been very convenient.
Loose rounds in a pocket are annoying. Digging around for them with cold hands after sitting in a stand all day is even worse.
Looking for a Better Option
There are a few ways to solve the problem.
For years, I put one round in five different pockets to keep them from rattling.
A friend used a rubber band to hold his together.
You could buy a spare magazine, but it's hard to believe what they cost.
None of those options felt ideal.
I wanted something simple that could carry a few spare rounds without taking up much space.
The Rifle Pocket Pack
The Rifle Pocket Pack was designed to hold five rounds securely while remaining compact enough to fit comfortably in a pocket.
The idea isn't to replace your magazine.
It's a convenient way to carry a few extra rounds when you're out on a hunt.

Making It Part of the System
As the Pocket Pack design came together, another issue became obvious.
Where do you store it when you're not hunting?
The last thing I wanted was another hunting accessory in the bottom of my hunting bag.

From Storage to the Field
This setup works perfectly for how I hunt.
At home, the Pocket Pack stays loaded and stored inside the ammo box alongside the rest of my ammunition.
If I'm just going for a day trip, I can bring one or two 5 round carriers and leave the box at home.
When I'm off to deer camp, the entire setup comes along.
The box can stay in the truck, camper or cabin while the Pocket Pack slips into a jacket pocket for the walk to a tree stand or down a trail.
Final Thoughts
The Rifle Pocket Pack wasn't designed to replace magazines or change the way people hunt.
Sometimes all you need is a few extra rounds and a convenient way to carry them.
